We do not reccommend more than 4 people.
45 ft – 4 of these: 2-10 Berth, great for a 1 or 2 families or up to 5 couples, size of a small apartment or cabin.
Your cars can park just a few metres from the houseboat, no relocating cars and humping gear from far away.
Any deposits paid will be transferred to other dates within 2 years if any government policy prevents you from arriving for your hire, even with no notice.
We are now taking bookings for hires from 1st June.
When you book 5 nights, the 6th night is free!

The midweek hire rate cannot include a Friday, Saturday or Sunday night. Up to 4 nights only.
Book a houseboat and get FREE PARKING for your car, caravan and boat trailer here at the marina. Multiple car parking per hire is also available for free. Park just a few meters from your houseboat. Your car stays there while you are away. No relocating the car a distance away.
All credit card payments incur a 1% charge to cover our costs. (in addition to the booking fee if applicable)
Your deposit and balance can be paid by direct deposit, or for “outside of school holidays bookings”, the balance can be paid on the day in cash, if you want to avoid this charge.
Motoring Hours Fee
A fee of $25 per motoring hour applies to cover the cost of servicing, replacing motors and fuel usage.
Past hires have produced an average of 2 motoring hours per day. There are no other costs.
We do not charge for pump-out and re-watering. (some houseboat hire companies do charge for this)
Your hire price includes gas usage of up to 2 x 9kg gas bottles and one extra BBQ gas bottle.
No-one has run out of gas since we bought the business here in 2008. This includes hires of 2-3 weeks in length.
For pricing on the above tables, we are very flexible and hires can be any number of nights. (Up to 14 nights, 1 night will be charged as 2)
There are 2 “hire dates” conditions…
1/ Hires cannot finish on a Saturday. You may book a return date on a Saturday but the hire will be priced to include that night.
A Friday return is 10am, if there is no weekend booking for your boat, we will offer you a 1pm return. This option can be taken up on Thursday during your hire.
2/ Hires cannot be booked to start on a Sunday. A Hire may be possible starting on a Sunday but the option will only be there if the boat isn’t booked for the previous weekend. Please book from Monday and call a couple of days before to take up this option if available.
Hire Times: All Hires are counted on nights not days. Hires commence with boarding at 1pm the first day. Return times are 1pm on the last day, except Friday is a 10am return. (4pm return on all Sundays, also Mondays on Long weekends).
Earlier start times may be available at no extra cost if the houseboat is not returning the same day. A time can be organized by calling after 4pm on the previous day.
We will do our best to get you underway as soon as possible depending on the circumstances of the day.
Most hirers get underway about 1.5 – 2 hours after arrival here at the marina. There may be up to 6 boats leaving on the same day.
The briefing (getting to know how everything works)
Your briefing may be done by watching a video on your boat or someone will do the briefing in person. This takes approx 40 mins.
You can ask questions and ask for a demonstration of anything once you have watched the video if it’s not done in person.
Starting the motors and a revision of anchoring and mooring will also be done in person.
Prices include GST (Goods and Services Tax). Prices are subject to alteration without notice. Paying your deposit locks in the price.
A $500 deposit per boat is needed to secure most bookings. A $1000 deposit is required on hires over $3000.
The balance is paid on the day of the hire except for hires during school holidays. Christmas school holiday balance is required before 1st December. Other school holidays, the balance is required 2 weeks before the start of the holidays.
In general, whilst on hire, we require a $1,000.00 security bond for the duration of your holiday. You may choose this to be done with a credit card authorization or we can hold a cash bond. IF you pay a cash bond, then please bring your bank account details with you as we do not return cash. It will be returned by direct deposit into a bank account. Your hire fee includes insurance for damage or loss for amounts above the insurance excess which is $2,000. You will also be responsible for any loss of income on a hire with a deposit already taken that can’t go ahead because of the damage.
A charge of up to $150 for cleaning applies if the boat is not returned with basic housekeeping done.
Garbage disposal included: 33ft houseboat hire: one large garbage bin for each 2 days: 45ft houseboat hire: one large garbage bin for each day.
Bags are provided and excess garbage is stored in the back bilge during your hire. Extra bags disposal @$5 per bag ( each bag containing only what will fit in the provided bin.)
We offer a service to bring your extra guests, ice, fuel for your ski-boat and groceries etc to points on the lakes by car where you can meet us by boat.
We charge $25-30 to most areas, $40 to the very top of the lakes.
The dinghy is complimentary with oars only. You can bring an outboard Motor up to 5hp, like the one here in the photo.
In most cases, you can anchor as close as 20m from shore, so that’s as far as you will need to row. We reccommend that you anchor in 1m depth of water so usually you can wade in, most hirers don’t even use the dinghy.
With so much water around you might like to hire a kayak or stand-up paddleboard (SUP). Lazy Paddles can deliver single sit-on-top kayaks and SUPs to Bulahdelah for you to take on your houseboat (subject to availability). $200 per kayak or SUP for two nights, $300 for five nights – includes delivery to Bulahdelah.

Additional Conditions – updated 09/02/18
- Age and gender:
Mixed male and female groups.
At least 1 person per group must be over the age of 25. This can be wavered at the management’s discretion, an additional $2000 bond may be required.
Return hirers who we accept again will have a $1,000.00 bond.
- If everyone on board is under 35 then the bond is $3,000.00. (Except for Families with under 12-year-olds on board, the bond is $1,000.00)
- Unless you are couples, or Father and Son, Mother and daughter, etc… All male or all female groups are not accepted unless you are all over 40 years old.
If you arrive and you are an all-male or all-female group under ’40s, without our written (emailed) permission, you will not be allowed to take the hire and you will lose any money paid.
These tougher conditions are a result of recent experiences, unfortunately, the minority of badly behaved groups spoil it for everyone.
Sorry, no pets allowed. The lakes are protected by National Park’s laws.
- No firearms allowed on board.
You have full access to the Myall Lakes (over 3 times the size of Sydney Harbour).
No access south of Tamboy. (river between Tea Gardens and the Lakes)
No access to jetties or wharves
- At times, the National Park may be closed due to extreme conditions like bushfire threat. The waterways remain open and you may have limited access to the land. Usually, Myall Shores Holiday Park also remains open so you have access to extra supplies and coffee shop etc.
You must arrive at the marina at least 3.5 hours before the official sunset time. This is due to the available daylight needed to pack your houseboat, receive the briefing, navigate the river and reach the first available anchorage. If you arrive later than this time or you take too long packing the boat, you will stay on your houseboat at the marina and leave the next morning. (the houseboat must be pulling away from the marina 2+ hours before sunset.)

SOCIAL ISOLATION UPDATED 26/03/2020
“If you are CONFUSED then this is how you should be living NOW. We are currently in ‘social isolation’ not lockdown (unless you are in self isolation/quarantine and the Department of Health has given you your rules). What this means is:
1. We should NOT be socialising with family, friends or colleagues that live in another house other than via video link etc!
2. We should NOT be gathering in groups.
3. We should NOT be replacing a night out with a night in and inviting all our friends round.
4. We should NOT be letting teenagers and young adults gather in groups around parks and public places
However, as we are NOT in total lockdown you CAN continue to:
1. Go for a walk with your own household (but staying a good distance from others eg 2-3 metres)
2. Drive to parks, nature reserves etc (some have removed parking charges) and walk in the vast area away from others
3. Walk your dog
4. Head out to a shop for essentials, prescriptions etc for yourself or someone who is vulnerable and isolating, then head home.
IF people continue to socialise in their ‘normal’ way, a full lockdown will likely be enforced on us to protect the health of our most vulnerable and to manage our limited health facilities and workforce.
PLEASE DO NOT judge people for taking a walk in the fresh air and sunshine; but equally PLEASE DO NOT carry on as normal.
PLEASE keep your distance from others and do not arrange social gatherings. Make the most of getting out for a walk with your own household and catching up on jobs or leisure activities at home.
