Formerly named, Luxury Houseboat Hire was first launched in 1988 on the Myall Lakes in Bulahdelah and has been operating successfully ever since.
We, Chris and Sandra Harlor, have been running the business since July 2008.
The boats have been updated, revamped and repainted. We’ve added new signwriting and moved over to our new business name
Myall Lakes Getaway Houseboats.
Chris is overdue to retire so the business is now on the market.
We come from a boat charter business on the south coast of NSW and are dedicated to giving you, the customer, the best houseboating experience possible. The maintenance regime is strict and effective giving a trouble-free holiday with all systems working properly.
Many people who have hired houseboats at other locations are amazed at how fast the houseboats are here. The beautiful river trip now takes 90mins instead of 2.5 hours when we first arrived in 2008. Chris has them steering much better and so we’ve been able to increase the horsepower so they go faster.
Refrigerators are now 12volt. New AGM batteries and solar panels provide plenty of power for house lights etc. As long as there is reasonable sun throughout most of the day, it is possible to stay in one spot for many days without needing to run the motors. All of the boats now have power anchor winches.

Our Fleet
The fleet consists of:
1 x 33 ft Houseboat: 2-6 Berth, great for a couple or a young family, size of a large caravan. Maximum 3 people over 14 years old only.
5 x 45 ft Houseboats: 2-10 Berth, great for 1 or 2 families or up to 5 couples, size of a small apartment or cabin. Many of our hires on the 45ft houseboat are booked with just 2-4 people giving a closed cabin for each couple and plenty of room to move.
